Autumn Beer Tasting: Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat

Shock Top is great in the summer. It’s refreshing and citrusy and makes for a great writing brew. So, when I saw they had a Pumpkin Wheat, I had to try it.

The label looks like Shock Top. The trademark orange with a mohawk is there. It’s been darkened a bit and a pumpkin added. The scent is spicy.

When poured, it had a huge foamy head (see photo). The beer itself has a dark, beautiful amber color. It’s a bit cloudy, but lots of flavored brews are. Ingredients listed are pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove. The clove is what I taste most. And I love it. Clove is a flavor that I have always loved. I love pumpkin, too. But I can’t really taste the pumpkin much. That’s okay.

I think I’d like it with a nice flavorful stew or heavy soup. Maybe when it gets cooler out, I’ll buy it again.
