Like the buds on the Dogwood tree in spring, the berries of the Holly bush act as harbinger of winter. The berries start to appear in late autumn and don’t leave until March. They provide a bit of color in an otherwise drab landscape.
I added the one with the snow after the original post. I had forgotten about this photo. It was taken last winter.
Nothing much beats this shade of red with this shade of green. Love.
Thank you. I agree. That’s part of what I love about the holly bush. The color contrast is so pleasing to the eye.
So Christmas-like for us! It must be beautiful to have it for an entire season! Season greetings!
We usually have mild winters here. Seasons Greetings to you, as well.
Beautiful tree! Love the red berries!
Thank you. My yard is full of different types of trees. This is one of my favorites.

Love those shots! 🙂
Thank you.
They also provide great food for birds when the weather is harsh. Great splash of colour!
The birds do love them.
Wow, the first shot is a great one! The white tree makes me want to hold my breath, because of its fragility.
That tree is in my neighbor’s yard. I have been fascinated with it since we moved here.
I had some time to really look at your Dogwoods and they are just gorgeous!
Thank you.
I keep thinking Purple Rosemary that I really like your cute purple hat. I just wanted to tell you that! 🙂 And of course I always love your photographs. You are very talented.
Thanks. A friend of mine found it for me.
Love the photos of winter with the promise of spring. As the new year rolls in, I find myself enjoying the introspective, dark, quiet winter while anticipating the light & warmth of spring. I’m adding a new post today called “There is a Season” (based on the 1960’s Byrd’s song). Then, I’ll go outside & watch the birds feeding on the berries in my yard amidst the fallen snow. Peace in the new year!
Winter makes me think too much. I think that’s why I don’t enjoy it. Peace to you.
