Frustration Station

It’s the time of year when the sun starts to go down early and it’s cold outside. My body reacts the same way every year. I get depressed, gain weight, and become a big, walking slug for awhile. Once I realize what’s happening, I start taking vitamin D, plug in my SAD light, and become a person again. I don’t know why I can’t prepare for this in advance. I know it’s coming. It’s no surprise. But that’s another story. This story is about finally waking up and trying to do something, only to find the universe conspiring against me.

I started to feel creative yesterday, so thought I’d get out a canvas and do some multi-media work. I haven’t really done anything like this, but I have a crap ton of printed canvases that are justing sitting in boxes right now. That’s another story, too. So, I dug out a canvas, beads, glass, and other oddities that I’ve collected over the years. I lay it out on the floor. Then, Hyler decided he wanted to help by picking up everything and putting it in his mouth. I finally ran him off. Then the dog wanted to help too. He hates to be left out of the fun. So, I gave up and decided to try again in the morning.

So, this morning, I lay everything out on a table. Guess what? As you can see, another cat decided it would be a great place to take a nap. I got him to move after much hissing and cussing. It was time to get started.

The glue gun was plugged in and hot. I opened a pack of glue and tried to put it in the gun. Wrong size. How do I have several packs of the wrong size glue sticks? What is happening?! I give up for today.

  1. Take a trip to Colorado. I hear they dispense creative inspiration in little shops now. Motivation, however, still comes from the pharmacy. I’m not being glib, just reminiscing.
